Cool Comics, Bro!

Tuesday again already, huh? At least us U.S. folks can take solace in the fact that Memorial Day and summer fun are right around the corner, and you know what that means: you can read your comics outside instead of in the house! Yay!

Book Riot has a new podcast for you to check out if you’re looking for more bookish content in your life. First Edition will include interviews, lists, rankings, retrospectives, recommendations, and much more, featuring people who know and love books. You can subscribe to First Edition on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or your podcatcher of choice.

Riot Recommendations

Today’s Riot Rec theme is: brothers! I’ve covered sisters and siblings before, so now it’s time to spotlight some comics all about brotherly love…or something.

Thor & Loki Double Trouble cover

Thor & Loki: Double Trouble by Mariko Tamaki and Gurihiru

Who knew that mischief-making Norse gods could be so adorable? After making a mess of Asgard, Thor and Loki are tasked with cleaning up the place. When they try to use Loki’s magic to make the work go faster, they end up falling into a parallel world — and meeting another Thor and another Loki!

Long Way Down cover

Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds and Danica Novgorodoff

Will Holloman has just lost his older brother to gun violence. Lacking healthy coping mechanisms to deal with such a tragedy, he decides that he will find the shooter and exact his own brand of revenge. But will more violence really bring Will the catharsis he needs? Or will he end up facing the same fate as his brother?

Thanks for checking in again this week, nerd friends! Always a pleasure to share comic books with you. I look forward to doing it again on Thursday!
