Writer Jack Guinness Says He’ll Fight to Overturn Ban on QUEER BIBLE
British writer, presenter and former model Jack Guinness says he is shocked to find himself a part of the wave of book banning in the United States. When a Mississippi mayor told the Madison County Library to remove LGBTQ+ books from its shelves or lose funding, one of the books singled out was The Queer Bible, a collection of essays edited by Guinness. When Guinness found out about the banning controversy from Twitter, he told the Observer, “I couldn’t quite believe my eyes. When you write a book, you kind of imagine people might read it, but you don’t imagine anyone will ban it.” Guinness and other Queer Bible contributors have been part of the effort to replace $110,000 withheld by the mayor. As reported last week, the target has been reached.
