Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees Votes to Restrict Access to Transgender Children’s Book
The Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees voted to restrict access to the 2016 novel Melissa by Alex Gino. The novel is the story of a transgender fourth grader’s journey coming out as well as her experience being in the school production of Charlotte’s Web. Trustees voted 10 to 2 to remove the book from elementary schools while allowing it to stay in middle schools and high schools. Middle schoolers will need parental permission to access the book.

Letitia Wright Gives First Interview About Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
For the first time, Black Panther star Letitia Wright is talking about the upcoming Marvel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and how it will honor Chadwick Boseman’s legacy. “We honored him by committing ourselves to the story that he started, the legacy that he started with this franchise,” Wright said to Variety when they interviewed her at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. “And we just committed every day to working hard, no matter what circumstances we faced — and we faced a lot of circumstances, a lot of difficult situations — but we came together as a team, and we poured everything into this movie, so I’m excited for you to see it.” Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released in the U.S. on November 11th.
