Netflix Debuts First Images from First Kill
Netflix has released the first set of images for its upcoming young adult vampire drama First Kill, along with announcing when the series will make its debut. First Kill, based on the short story by V.E. Schwab, tells the story of a teen vampire who decided to finally make her first kill in order to cement her place in the family hierarchy. But there’s one problem. The person she chooses to kill comes from a family of vampire hunters. First Kill will star Sarah Catherine Hook as Juliette, Imani Lewis as Calliope, Elizabeth Mitchell as Margot Fairmont, Aubin Wise as Talia Burns, Gracie Dzienny as Elinor Fairmont, Dominic Goodman as Apollo Burns, Phillip Mullings Jr. as Theo Burns, and Jason R. Moore as Jack Burns. The series debuts all eight episodes on Netflix on June 10th.
Greta Lee to Adapt Cathy Park Hong’s Minor Feelings
Cathy Park Hong’s Minor Feelings is being adapted into a television series by Greta Lee and A24. Lee will star in, write, and executive produce the adaptation of Hong’s non-fiction book, which is part memoir, part history, and part cultural criticism. The book was a New York Times bestseller and won a National Book Critics Circle Award. Christina Lee, showrunner of HBO Max’s Made For Love, is also attached to executive produce and supervise the project.
Comic Book Artist George Pérez Has Died
Five months after publicly announcing his terminal cancer diagnosis, artist and writer George Pérez has died. Friends and family confirmed the news on social media on Saturday. Pérez was 67 years old. In a statement to his fans, Pérez’s friend Constance Ezra wrote, “We are all very much grieving, but at the same time we are so incredibly grateful for the joy he brought to our lives. To know George was to love him; and he loved back… He loved all of you. He loved hearing your posts and seeing the drawings you sent and the tributes you made. He was deeply proud to have brought so much joy to so many.” A memorial service for Pérez will be held at MEGACON Orlando at 6pm on Sunday, May 22nd. It will be open to all.
